Support group for the RIFed

In the morning's email:

To TDMN's 2011 alumni:

After the 2009 layoff, a group of survivors formed a support group of sorts. We met monthly to talk about freelancing work, unemployment issues, health care options, etc. But mainly we gave each other encouragement and the willing ear of someone who really knows how you feel.

Our yahoo group is still open. We use the mailing list primarily to share job leads. And thanks to the diligence of Mary Gladstone, some still meet in person every other month. 

Most of you are likely still in shock and will be for some time. But when you're ready to ask questions about unemployment, freelancing, job leads, health insurance and more, please consider this group as a willing and sympathetic resource. Most of us have walked in your shoes; we want to help.

Please email me if you'd like an invitation to the yahoo group, information about the next possible meeting or just the contact information for someone who's been where you are. All former TDMN employees are welcome.

    Here is a radio job in New Mexico:

    New Mexico faces major challenges with conservation issues including water resources, drought, wildfires, state and federal public lands, and historic claims on land. New Mexico is currently experiencing changes in public and corporate regulation with respect to natural resources.

    This position will be responsible for identifying, researching, reporting, and producing content for air on KUNM and online for KUNM.org that includes multi-media components, rich audio, and deep context.

    KUNM is looking for someone who has an innovative approach to journalism and story telling. The successful candidate can incorporate the perspectives of multiple stakeholders in ways that represent the complexity of these issues within a context that recognizes the many different communities in our state.
    Experience in environmental reporting preferred. Experience in New Mexico or the southwest preferred. Experience producing for public radio preferred.

    The position is full-time for 11 months and is benefits eligible through the University of New Mexico.     Has anyone found a lawyer to look over their severance agreement?

    I do not like the way the document sounds with regard to my rights, and this thing is littered with punctuation errors, too.

    I was emotionally able to take a good look at the packet today. That's progress of a sort.
