The economic recovery act passed earlier this year provides COBRA premium assistance for laid-off workers.

There are some limitations to who is eligible for the COBRA subsidy and it is important to understand. For instance, if you are eligible for group coverage under your spouse's plan, you do not qualify for the subsidy. I am a DMN employee, but I also own an health insurance agency. If anyone needs assistance in understanding their options, we are happy to help. There are great short-term medical plans that are affordable as well. Best of luck to all of those who were affected by the recent cuts.
