Is there any good reason for them to wait until next week? Getting paperwork in order or HR staffed or something that it would be hard to make happen so quickly? If not, tomorrow looks pretty plausible...
It's probably unlikely we'll know for sure until we come in on whatever day it is. Although, I am worried, it will be good to know one way or the other.
I've been told (directly by my dept. head) that there's a manager's only meeting regarding the RIF Friday (4/3) from 9:30-10:30 or so. Could this be "firing school"?
I don't know about ya'll, but I am really enjoying the Winnie the Pooh animal crackers they have in Metro today. Personally, I think the Piglet ones taste best. IJS.

Since the board approved the plan effective today, layoffs could start tomorrow or anytime. That's my understanding.
ReplyDeleteI heard as early as Friday too. And the above poster is right. It's any day now that certain plans have been put into motion.
ReplyDeleteIsn't there some strategy to doing it on a Friday? As in, it's a horrible day, then (most people) get the weekend to cool down/commiserate?

ReplyDeleteHave they had firing school yet?
ReplyDeleteTry loading your timecard on Kronos. If you can NOT access it. Chances are very good you'll be laid off tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteGiven the DMN's record of tech breakdowns, I wouldn't take access to Kronos as a particularly reliable indicator...
ReplyDeleteMoroney previously said in a public forum week of April 7, which I know is a Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous from 2:23 is right. Firing school is the best sign layoffs are near. I have not heard that this has happened.
We usually get an inkling that cuts will happen a day ahead of time, Anonymous from 2:22. Some bosses quietly warn us.

ReplyDeleteThe extended *ahem*catered*ahem* lunch meeting yesterday including HR could have been firing school.

ReplyDeleteHow many managers do we have who haven't gone through at least one version of firing school? How much of a refresher would they need from last time?
ReplyDeleteNone. Unless we have increased the ranks. Always a possibility.
ReplyDeleteYou guys have animal crackers? So envious.
ReplyDeletefor the record, the animal crackers were bought by a generous reporter who made a Costco run. Thanks, Sherry!
