About newsroom staffing cuts at the Dallas Morning News. Because somebody needs to do it.
I saw plenty of higher ups (including mine *gulp*) going to a meeting downstairs early this morning. It also included night managers that don't come in until many hours after the meeting so it must've been very important.

It's been a relatively short run for me, but I've loved every minute of it. Here's hoping we come out on top ... some how.
Aaaand they took a couple more out of production today...
ReplyDeleteOut of production? What jobs are we talking about?
ReplyDeletePlano/Dallas layout guys. I know of three, heard of more, but couldn't confirm.
ReplyDeleteAaaand they decided the techs don't need internet at home any more (effective now, not paying for it) and they layed off the last on-site Pub night support guy a couple weeks ago.
Mostly jobs at the Plano plant.
ReplyDeleteReally? Why do these people need this training? They're already experts at this BS.
ReplyDeleteI hear the newsroom is getting hit on Tuesday of next week (September 6th).
ReplyDeleteA note to the commenter who keeps trying to attack managers by name: Stop it. This isn't a blog for that. The guy who runs the Monkey Poop blog may let you get away with it.
ReplyDeleteand then...?
